Hommerdingen

Hommerdingen is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality New Castle.

History

The sites directory of the Rheinische Landesmuseum Trier recorded north of Hommerdingen a Roman settlement site which is however not localized closer. The place was first mentioned in 1317 as Humircingen. Other forms of the name are 1392 Hummer things Hemer Tingen 1501 and 1570 Homer things. 1615, the village belonged to a Stockgut for dairy Nusbaum, until the French annexation in 1794 county of Vianden. In 1815 he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War at times again occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.
