Keppeshausen

Keppeshausen is a municipality on the border between Luxembourg and Germany Our River in the Eifel region in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality New Castle and has 15 inhabitants and an area of 2.31 km ². This makes the place with its six houses to the smallest municipalities in terms of population throughout Germany.

Geography

Keppeshausen is located on the German -Luxembourg border river Our. A bridge over the Our leads to Luxembourg's neighboring Stolzemburg (municipality Puetscheid ). Under the bridge the Our is dammed by a weir.

To Keppeshausen also includes a part of the village Waldhof, which otherwise belongs to the municipality Waldhof- Falkenstein.

History

Already in 1463 a Keppeshusen was mentioned. In 1615, there were two bunk Keppeshausen goods.

The place belonged to the late 18th century to the Luxembourg county of Vianden and dairy Karlshausen.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, occupied and annexed in October 1795. Under the French administration, the area belonged to the canton of Vianden in Diekirch District, which was part of the Department of Forests. Keppeshausen was managed by the Mairie Stolzemburg.

Due to the decisions on the Congress of Vienna, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our 1815 assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration came Keppeshausen for mayor Roth in the district of Bitburg, who was assigned to the Region of Trier.

After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Keppeshausen now belongs to the parish Rodershausen, but was since 1585 part of the parish Luxembourg Stolzemburg.

Parish council

The local council in Keppeshausen consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
