Scheitenkorb

Scheitenkorb is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality New Castle.

Geographical location

Scheitenkorb is located in the South Eifel nature between the municipalities Rodershausen and Karlshausen.

History

The first mention of the place in 1480 as Schytenkorff. Maintained it was from the neighboring dairy farm Karlshausen and thus belonged to the county of Vianden Luxembourg.

With the annexation of the Austrian Netherlands, which included Luxembourg and thus Scheitenkorb, by French revolutionary troops, the village belonged from 1795 to 1814 to the French between forests department. In 1815 he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna and was administered from 1816 to the mayoralty Koxhausen.

1857 was the site of a private chapel, allegedly as a result of a lottery win a log Korber citizen who is said to have praised the foundation of such a chapel for this case.
