Gentingen

Gentingen is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality New Castle.

Geography

Gentingen lies directly on the border with Luxembourg on the eastern bank of the Our. After Roth an der Our in the north is 3 km, after Körperich in the Northeast and also Niedersgegen in the east about 4 km. About 2 km southeast is Anmeldingen. History

Gentingen was first mentioned on May 6, 1096 as Gemtinga in a protective document by Pope Alexander II for the Abbey of Echternach. Pope Victor IV confirmed on June 9, 1161 the holding, in 1282 appears the place as Gemptingen.
