Geroda, Thuringia

The Thuringian municipality Geroda ( with the locals Grutsch spoken) is located in the northeast of the Saale -Orla -Kreis. She is a member of the administrative community Triptis.

Geography

In Geroda there is a small river and several ponds. Specifically, the crows wood consists of three or more closely adjacent ponds with a unique flora and fauna. It starts right next to a major highway. Also worth seeing is the former sand pit, which is now a nature reserve in endangered animal and plant species. It is tucked away and runs almost to Geheege over.

History

1124, the village was first mentioned in records.

In the largely agricultural village Gerodaer the mills were acquired at a mill control in 1682. A grist mill, which was bach outwardly of the village at the meadow pond. At the edge of the village at the end of a pond chain later was an oil mill. It was an oil hammer mill wooden tampers with solid foundation. Through the power of water and a lot of noise oil was recovered. Around 1870, the pounding was over. The waterwheel had done his job. New enhanced oil presses prevailed. In 1998, the bounce house was canceled. The other mill disappeared a hundred years ago.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 16 January 1995 by the Thuringian State Office of Administration.

Each field of the emblem symbolizes the Town: For Geroda is based on the place name as a mark of clearing the place a tree stump with a branch sprouting.
