Honigsee

Honeysuckle is a municipality in the region Barkauer land in the district of Plön, in Schleswig- Holstein. Wood, Kleinhavighorst and Großhavighorst ( named on the sign along Havighorst ) are in the municipal area.

Geography and transport

Honeysuckle is located about 7 km south of Kiel and about 5 km west of Preetz near the federal highway 404 from Kiel to Bad Segeberg. The village lies on the Honigau and at Honeysuckle. From 1910 to 1930 Honeysuckle was the small train station Kirchbarkau - Preetz Luetjenburg.

History

The place name is of Slavic.

Policy

Since the local elections of 2008, the voters Community WGH has all nine seats in the municipal council.

Economy

The municipal area is predominantly used for agricultural purposes. Many residents commute to Kiel. About the first district heating network with cooperative form of organization in Schleswig -Holstein 54 households in the village Honigsee be supplied from the cogeneration plant of a biogas plant with thermal energy.
