Houécourt

Houécourt is a commune with 427 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, for Canton Châtenois and founded the 1992 Local Government Association Bulgnéville entre Xaintois et Bassigny.

Geography

The municipality is situated on Houécourt about 320 to 330 m above sea level in the south of Lorraine, halfway between Neufchâteau and Mirecourt, seen more widely about 45 kilometers south of Toul. The village is located in the transition zone between the Bassigny as part of the plateau of Langres and the Xaintois. Characteristic of the area are the river valleys who strive for fan-shape of the upper Meuse.

History

Houécourt belonged before the French Revolution to the Bailiwick Neufchâteau.

A county Houécourt created in 1719, which became the Margraviate two years later. The counts presented the long-established family of Lignéville.

The parish Houécourt was under the patronage of the Abbot of Saint- Mihiel, the claimed two-thirds of the tithe.

Economy and infrastructure

Agriculture plays a role in Houécourt even today. There are also small trade and craft shops. Some residents commute into the BSN Glasspack plant in the neighboring community of Gironcourt -sur- Vraine, which since 2004 belongs to the group of Owens- Illinois.

Transport links

The partial two-lane and intersection- free -developed D 166 of Epinal by Neufchâteau bypasses the town to the south. They crossed to the west of the Autoroute A31 Houécourt ( Toul -Dijon ). The furnished here motorway junction is one of three ports in the department of Vosges and an important regional transport hub.
