Klaus Kröppelien

Klaus Kröppelien ( born June 29, 1958 in Rostock ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. 1980 Olympic victory was in the double sculls.

The rowers from ASK forward Rostock in 1976 Junior World Champion with the quadruple sculls. 1977 occupied Kröppelien in adult class third place in the GDR championships in double sculls. 1979 at the World Championships in Bled the sculls from East Germany won the title in the occupation of Peter Kersten, Klaus Kröppelien, Karl -Heinz Bussert and Joachim Dreifke. For the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, Peter Kersten qualified in one. Dreifke and Kröppelien started in the double sculls and won the gold medal with two seconds ahead of second-placed Yugoslavs. He was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver for this success. 1981 won the two Rostock at the World Championships at the Rowing Course near Munich. 1982 at the World Championships on the Rotsee in Lucerne occupied the two second behind the Norwegian Alf Hansen and Rolf Thorsen. The career of the double Zweiers Dreifke / Kröppelien ended at the East German championships in 1983 when they were defeated by Thomas Lange and Uwe Heppner.

Klaus Kröppelien was a trained electrician, was until the turn of the People's Navy and worked as a bus driver after the turn.
