Klausen Pass, Hotel below the summit

The Klausen Pass ( pass at 1948 m) is a pass in Switzerland, which connects the cantons of Uri and Glarus. It leads from Altdorf (Canton Uri) through the Schächtental over the pass and the Urner Boden to Linthal (Canton Glarus ). At the pass the border between Uri and the community Unterschà belonging to Spiringen Urner Boden runs.

Traffic

The officially designated Klausstrasse is part of the main road 17, which crosses the Glarus region, and takes its name from Linthal. It ends in a roundabout between Altdorf, Bourguillon and Schattdorf. The mountain pass where it discharges into the main road 2, the Gotthard road that gives the Axenstrasse in the northwest. The Klausen Pass is closed in winter. In the summer performs a post bus line of the Regional Centre of Central Switzerland Flüelen to Linthal.

Between 1922 and 1934, was on the Klausen Pass, a mountain race for cars and motorcycles, the Klausenrennen performed. 1993, 1998, 2002 and 2006 found more races instead of classic cars. The Klausen Pass is challenging for its route. 2006 inline skate race was held. From the east side it went up to the pass.

Gastronomy

At the summit are located next to ample parking, a kiosk, a restaurant, a self-service restaurant and a chapel. 100 meters below the summit towards Altdorf, there is the hotel pass.
