Survey

A rocket launch site is built as far away from human settlements, in order to minimize risk to the population as low as possible in an explosion. Usually a site is chosen by the sea, because the sea is an easy to looking security area for the safe demise of rocket parts.

Missile launch sites, one of which also satellites and interplanetary spacecraft to be launched, also referred to as spaceport. The famous rocket launch sites are Cape Canaveral in the U.S., Baikonur in Kazakhstan and Kourou in French Guyana. There are also many lesser known missile launch sites.

In Europe, Esrange in Kiruna, Sweden and Salto di Quirra are the most important rocket launch sites in Sardinia.

Germany had in earlier decades, three missile launch sites:

  • 1936-1945 in Peenemunde, mainly for testing (not for military use ) was used to A4/V2;
  • 1957 to 1964 in the Wadden area of Cuxhaven, from the Ernst Mohr, the Hermann- Oberth -Gesellschaft and the Berthold Seliger Research and Development Company launched several rockets, such as cumulus and cirrus, and
  • 1988-1992 on the peninsula Zingst on the Baltic coast, where there was a starting place for Russian MMR06 -M missiles.

Poland started in the 70's sounding rockets of the type of meteor military training areas in the vicinity of Leba and Ustka.
