History

Originally the car was by John Cowperthwaite, who also had the JC Midge designed, engineered and sold as JC Locust by JC Car Patterns.

Later the manufacturing rights were sold to T & J Sportscars, who introduced a version based on the Ford Cortina, the Hornet was called.

Then the concept of White Rose Vehicles ( WRV ) was taken, which the Locust Locust ES for more developed and introduced also the Locust SIII based on the Ford Sierra.

In April 2000, the Locust ES was acquired by BWE Sports Cars, which also make the Hornet and the Grasshopper, an electric car for children. The Locust SIII based on the Ford Sierra was acquired by Road Tech Engineering.

Technology

The chassis is based on either the Ford or the triumph. The Ford chassis is based on the most popular and is often equipped with the drives of the Ford Escort Mk II or the Ford Cortina Mk IV.

The first Locust had the front suspension from either the triumph or the Ford Cortina, but over the years there have been many changes to the chassis and design. On request there is a front suspension with double wishbones or with MacPherson struts. Each motor, the fit between the longitudinal beams of the chassis can also be incorporated. Depending on the choice of engine and carburetor additional openings and scoops must be mounted on the hood.
