Evante

Evante Mk 2 (1993 )

The Evante Cars Ltd.. was a British automobile manufacturer that was based in Spalding ( Lincolnshire ) between 1987 and 1991. He emerged from the tuning company Vegantune, the repaired Elan 1983 Lotus and improved. When the decision was made to build a complete new car, they founded for this purpose the Evante Cars Ltd.. as an independent company.

Description

The appearance of the car was clearly inspired by the Lotus Elan and the drive was a Vegantune VTA 1.6, which was based on the Ford Kent engine. Later they put a 1.7 L - four-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts, who forwarded his power through a gearbox to the rear wheels, which originally was used in the Ford Sierra. The body of GRP and CFRP was mounted on a spaceframe chassis with independent suspension all around. The front and rear disc brakes were used.

Actually, the car should be assembled and supplied as a kit, but ultimately all the cars were delivered fully assembled, namely about 1 unit / week. The bodies were well equipped with leather seats, walnussfurnierten dashboards and power windows.

End and resurrection

The production was stopped in 1991 when the original company was forced to retire. The construction but was of the Fleur de Lys Automobile Manufacturing Ltd.. adopted, which was specialized previously stated to the construction of vans in retro style. They revised the car and provide him with a Ford Zetec engine with 1.8 l displacement. However, until 1994 came only 9 more copies.

An attempt to revive failed in 2001.
