Lonigo

Lonigo is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 15,865 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Vicenza in the Veneto region. Lonigo or the district Bagnolo is located on Guà. The municipality borders the province of Verona. The municipality is situated approximately 30 kilometers east of Verona and 30 kilometers southwest of Vicenza.

History

The name of the village comes from the Roman family Leonici Flavii. In the 10th century, the place is called castro leunico and documented. In the following centuries, the towns in the area under the rule of the city of Padua and the Venetian Republic.

Traffic

The Lonigo railway station on the route from Verona to Vicenza is actually in the municipality of San Bonifacio in the province of Verona.

Attractions

The Villa Pisani heard as one of the designed and built by Andrea Palladio Villas for World Heritage Site City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas Andrea.
