Geography

The municipality is located in the north of the South Eifel in Prümtal and has about 600 inhabitants.

Climate

The annual precipitation is 835 mm. The deposits are located in the upper third of the detected values ​​in Germany. History

Lünebach was first documented in 1198 under the name " Loynbach " ( probably from Middle Low German " Löne " = "Maple "). Other names: " Lonenbach " in 1352, " Luyngenbach " in 1356, " Loebach " in 1451st

During the Second World War, particularly during the Battle of the Bulge, Lünebach was largely destroyed.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms is a nine -part of silver and blue shield with a red cross bar, topped with a silver crown with golden stones. Lünebach formerly belonged to the local rulers of the court Pronsfeld which the Duchy of Luxembourg and the Electorate of Trier was one half each. Therefore, in the coat of arms are the Luxembourg colors ( silver and blue ) and the red cross of the Electorate of Trier. The crown is an attribute of the parish patron St. Gertrude. On 13 December 1965, the coat of arms was approved by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior.

Lünebach is located on Prümtal cycle path from Prüm to Waxweiler. Near the edge is the Eifel Zoo. Has been newly connected to the bike path towards Arzfeld. From Arzfeld then provides the Enz Valley bike trail connection in the direction of New Castle.

Economy and infrastructure
