Mezzolombardo

Mezzo Lombardo (also Mezelombardo, German outdated Welsch - Metz) is a municipality with 6946 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) the province of Trento in Trentino -Alto Adige, Italy.

Location and data

Mezzo Lombardo at the output of the Val di Non ( with the river Noce nearby) in the Adige Valley in the plane of the Piana Rotaliana, north of Trent, at an altitude of 226 m. The neighboring municipalities are sound, mezzo Corona, Spormaggiore, San Michele all'Adige, Fai della Paganella, Nave San Rocco, Zambana.

History

Mezzo Lombardo under Roman, Lombard and Frankish rule. This was followed by the Bishopric of Trent, the Austro- Hungarian Empire, and finally. Following the First World War, the connection to the Kingdom of Italy

Economy

In addition to industrial and commercial enterprises Mezzo Lombardo is a wine community with the variety Teroldego (see also the article viticulture in Italy). The village lies on the Ferrovia Trento -Malé.
