Mike Coffman

Michael " Mike" Coffman ( born February 27, 1955 in Fort Leonard Wood, Pulaski County, Missouri) is an American politician. He is a member of the Republican Party and, since 2009, representing the 6th Congressional District of the State of Colorado member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Coffman first attended high school in Aurora and later the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he graduated in 1979 as Bachelor. In the meantime, he served in the U.S. Army; 1979 to 1982 he was a member of the United States Marine Corps. Then he hit a career as a businessman.

Politically, he was active for the first time in 1989 as a deputy in the House of Representatives from Colorado, where he remained until 1994; after that he was a state senator until 1998. From 1999 to 2007 Coffman then served as finance minister from Colorado ( state treasurer ), from 2007 to 2008 as Secretary of State. Finally, he entered 2008 in the election for the House of Representatives and took the seat of not more candidates Tom Tancredo. With 60.7 percent of the vote he won against Democrat Hank Eng. After that, he was confirmed twice, most recently in 2012 but only 48 percent of the vote against Joe Miklosi.
