Tim Wirth

Timothy Endicott " Tim " Wirth ( born September 22, 1939 in Santa Fe, New Mexico) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. From January 3rd 1975 to January 3, 1993, he sat for the U.S. state of Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

Early years, career and family

Wirth was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University. The Stanford University awarded him a Ph.D. in 1973.

Wirth is married to Wren Winslow Wirth. Together they have a daughter and a son.

Political career

His political career began Wirth career in the government of Richard Nixon, where he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Education. In 1970, he returned to Colorado, where he successfully ran in 1974 for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Until 1987 he represented the 2nd District of the State of Colorado. During his time in the House to Wirth began for alternative household duties, including for the promotion of the telecom industry.

1986 Wirth then ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate. In the election, he could just enforce against his colleague Ken Kramer. He succeeded Gary Hart.
