Missy Franklin

Melissa " Missy " Jeanette Franklin ( born May 10, 1995, Pasadena, California) is an American swimmer.

At the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai and 2013 in Barcelona she won nine titles. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, she won the 100 and 200 meter backstroke and the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and the 4 × 100 -meter medley relay gold medal and bronze in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay.

Life

At the urging of her mother, Franklin began at the age of five years to swim. Her parents both have Canadian citizenship, so she has dual American and Canadian citizenship. Swimming career

Early career

2010
