Municipal Borough of Southall

The Municipal Borough of Southall was a district in the metropolitan area of the British capital London. It existed from 1891 to 1965 under various names and was at the center of the former county of Middlesex.

History

Southall Norwood was originally a civil parish in the Harde ( hundred ) Elthorne. 1891 urban health district ( urban sanitary district ) was created with extended powers in the infrastructure sector. 1894 reconstituted the health district as Urban District. This, in turn, received in 1936 the status of a municipal borough. The same year also renamed Southall.

With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965 arose from the merger of the Municipal Boroughs Acton, Ealing and Southall London Borough of Ealing.
