Ouder-Amstel

( Listen? / I ) Ouder - Amstel is a municipality in the Netherlands, North Holland province. It has 13,255 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013). It consists of the villages Ouderkerk aan de Amstel (52 ° 18 ' N, 4 ° 54' O52.2966666666674.9047222222222 ) and Duivendrecht (52 ° 20 ' N, 4 ° 56' O52.3319444444444.9405555555556 ) and the peasantry Waver.

Location and economic

The community is located immediately southeast of Amsterdam. The two villages are in the process of transforming from rural villages in suburbs of the Dutch capital.

The majority of its residents are commuters who travel daily to Amsterdam to work. The only one in the community still existing industry is the cattle industry.

Duivendrecht has a station on the line from Amsterdam to Arnhem ( German border) and from Weesp to Leiden. It is designed as a tower train station and the metro stop is Amsterdam. It was opened in 1993.

Attractions

In both villages, some houses and churches are from the 17th century. Southeast of the town Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is the recreation area Ouderkerkerplas.
