October 5, 1962

P. S. I Love You (German: PS I Love You ') is the title of a song by British rock band The Beatles. It appeared as the B- side of the first single from the group on 5 October 1962 in the UK, on the A- side is the song Love Me Thu been Composed both titles by Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

Origin and recording

P. S. I Love You is one of the earliest compositions of the writing staff Lennon / McCartney, the lead author of the piece is Paul McCartney. McCartney compared the piece with the later composition Paperback Writer, where he again took up the scheme to use a kind of letter as text. McCartney wrote the song in 1961 during the second visit of the Beatles in Hamburg.

The recordings of the piece took place at London's Abbey Road Studios on September 11, 1962. The group took ten takes to complete the recording to the satisfaction of the producer Ron Richards, who represented George Martin on that day on the mixer. The Beatles played in their usual formation: with John Lennon on rhythm guitar, Paul McCartney on bass, George Harrison on lead guitar. However, the studio musician Andy White took over the drums. White was hired by George Martin for this recording session because he had Pete Best perceived as too weak at the first audition of the Beatles. Ringo Starr played maracas during the recordings.
