Plütscheid

Plütscheid is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member of the collective municipality.

Geography

Plütscheid located in the western Eifel, a few kilometers east of the border with Luxembourg. 38.6 % of the municipal area is agricultural land, 50.3 % is the largest part of forest existed (as of 2011 ).

History

Celtic fortifications on the Germarkung Plütscheids point to a very early settlement. The name " Plütscheid " is due to the word Plotiacum, which also points to a first settlement in Celtic- Roman times. On the " Hardenberg " finds were opened, which confirm a Roman settlement activity.
