Reutov

Reutov (Russian Реутов ) is a city adjacent to Moscow with 87,314 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in Moscow Oblast, Russia.

Location

Reutov located 12 km east of Moscow city center. Immediately west of Reutov runs the Moscow ring road MKAD, which forms the border to Moscow in this area, in the east, the city Balaschicha connects. Other nearby cities include Schelesnodoroschny (9 km east of Reutov ) Ljuberzy (11 km south) and Kotelniki (12 km east).

History

The town was first mentioned as a village Reutowo, in 1573, for the first time in writing. The place name may be derived from the regret designated as bell towers, one of which was once warned from Moscow before approaching attackers from the east with the ringing of bells, according to some conjecture.

In the 17th and 18th century the village belonged to the princely families Turenin, Dolgorukov and Maslow and were dominated by agriculture. Beginning of the 19th century was the place where the officer Andrei Pochwistnew, the 1824 was there to build a textile factory. This is Reutowo developed from the 1820s to an industrial town, which was expanded in the 1840s to a brick of the Moscow businessman Sergei MASURIN as well as working-class neighborhood. 1913 originated in Reutowo a railway station on the route from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod. 1928 Reutowo was declared a workers' settlement and 1940, the city Reutov.

Economy and Transport
