Sam Graddy

Sam Graddy ( Samuel Louis "Sam" Graddy III,. Born February 10, 1964 in Gaffney, South Carolina ) is a former American sprinter and Olympic gold medalist.

In 1983 he won the silver medal in the 100 -meter run and the team gold medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay at the Pan American Games.

At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, he won the silver medal over 100 meters, behind his compatriot Carl Lewis ( gold ) and before the Canadian Ben Johnson ( bronze), as well as the team gold medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay together with his teammates Ron Brown, Calvin Smith and Carl Lewis, before the teams from Jamaica ( silver ) and Canada ( bronze).

After completing his studies at the University of Tennessee, he earned his living as a professional football player with the Denver Broncos in the 1987 season and 1988. Afterwards he played with the Los Angeles Raiders von 1990 to 1992.
