Sarroux

Sarroux ( Sarron in Occitan ) is a commune with 426 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Corrèze, in the Limousin region.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Massif Central to the west of the dam of Bort- les- Orgues and thus also close to the border with Cantal.

Tulle, prefecture of the department is located, about 75 kilometers south-west, about 20 kilometers northwest Ussel and Bort- les- Orgues approximately 7 km southeast easily.

Neighboring communities of Sarroux are Monestier- Port-Dieu in the north, Beaulieu in the northeast, Lanobre in the east, Bort- les- Orgues the southeast, Bort- les- Orgues in the southeast and Saint- Julien- près- Bort in the southwest and west.

The village is located about 25 kilometers southeast of the junction 23 of the A89 autoroute.

History

The area around Sarroux since the Neolithic period has been on population tracks. Gallo- Roman places of worship, as in the close neighborhood of Frankfurt Margerides witness a lively exchange between these cultures during ancient times.
