Selçuk Yula

Selçuk Yula ( born November 8, 1959 in Ankara, † August 6, 2013 in Istanbul) was a Turkish footballer and football expert.

Although he was also active for arch-rivals Galatasaray, he is strongly associated with its activity for Fenerbahce with this club. On fan and club sides, he is referred to as one of the greatest players in the club's history. In the Turkish Erstligaspielzeiten 1981/82 and 1982/83 was Yula scorer in the Süper Lig

Playing career

Association

Yula started his career in his native city of Ankara, Ankara Şekerspor at second division. At age 19, his transfer to Fenerbahce was a milestone in his career, he was top scorer. In 1982 with 16 goals and in 1983 with 19 goals; Yula also won two championships with Fenerbahçe. In March 1984, he collided in the national camp with his teammates İsmail Demiriz and broke his leg. Due to this injury he fell out until September 1984.

Yula played in the Bundesliga season 1986/87 for blue and white 90 Berlin, he left this club after just one season, returned to Turkey and played for Sariyer SK. With Sariyer SK he established himself during his playing time in the upper third of the table of the Süper Lig For season 1991/92 he moved to Galatasaray Istanbul and played one season here. His career for Fenerbahçe, he finished with a home game against Erzurumspor.

National

Selçuk Yula played 22 times in the Turkish national football team, including three as captain.

Football expert

After his club career Yula worked as a football expert. In this role he wrote for the sports daily Fotomaç and acted as an expert of the club's own television station Fenerbahçe TV.

Death

On the night of August 6, 2013 Yula suffered a heart attack. He was still taken to a hospital but died a short time later. His funeral took place a day later under high participation, in addition to his former club Fenerbahçe personalities also attended many celebrities. After the noon prayer in Istanbul Sakirin Camii Mosque Yula was buried in the cemetery Karacaahmet.
