South Africa at the 2008 Summer Olympics
South Africa was represented by participation in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in total for the 17th time in the Olympic Games. The first appearance was in 1904. The South African team comprises 136 athletes. Flag bearer at the Olympic opening ceremony was the swimmer Natalie du Toit. The South African flag was carried at the closing ceremony of Sifiso Nhlapo. The only medal winner was the long jumper Godfrey Khotso Mokoena, who was able to win a silver medal.
