Speed skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics
Speed skating was in Sochi in 2014 within the framework of the XXII. Winter Olympics represented the 22nd time. The competitions were held in the Krasnodar region. Venue was the Eagles Arena in "Coastal Cluster", which is located on the Black Sea. The hall has a capacity of 8000 spectators. It is mobile and can be rebuilt as eg exhibition hall after the games at a different location. In the preseason, the plant was inaugurated with races of the Russian Championships and was the venue for the World Single Distance Championships in 2013. The name " eagle " comes from the district of Sochi in the hall was built.

Qualification
Each nation may send a maximum of 20 athletes (10 men Frauen/10 ). Does not start the nation in team run, the number of starters reduced to eight athletes. In the individual sections 500/1000/1500 meters may four, start at the 3000/5000/10.000 three and the team run each nation a team ( four athletes ) maximum. For the quota places, the speed skaters must qualify on their performance in the current season. These are based on two rankings. List 1 will take the athletes depending on distance obtained after the World Cup points. Four dates are sure to Deadline available. Schedule 2 lists all athletes each route to fastest time in the current season up to the deadline on. The services must be provided to separately classified ISU events.
In addition to the qualification criteria of the ISU, the DOSB stops in front of national nomination criteria that must be provided. Once or twice a square space 1-8 1-16 are required to be sent as an athlete to the games can.
