Stubenberg, Styria

Stubenberg with 2297 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) is a municipality in Styria, Austria. It is located in the judicial district Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg - Fürstenfeld.

Geography

Geographical Location

Stubenberg lies in the valley of the Feistritzwerke in the southeastern foothills of the Fischbach Alps at the foot of Kulms ( mountain ). The municipality lies at an altitude 386-1282 meters. Office is located in the mountain Stubenberger basin, which has a length of two kilometers and a width of one kilometer, and is designed in northern south. In the West it is from the Kulm ( 975 m), bounded on the north by Rabenwald (1,280 m), to the east of tertiary Riedeln and in the south from the book mountain ( 532 m).

Demographics

Since the first census in 1869, which resulted in 1,772 residents, the population increased almost uninterruptedly ( with a sharp decline of -4.9 % between 1934 and 1939 ) and reached the peak in 1991 with 2,325. By the next census in 2001, there was a slight decline to 2,256 inhabitants; a new growth could not be achieved in 2011 with 2,321 inhabitants.

Religions

Of the population, the vast majority ( 95.4 % ) is committed to the Roman Catholic Church. Evangelical, 0.8 %, 0.4% are members of Islam. Without religious beliefs are 2.1 % of the population.

Stubenberg is seat of a Roman Catholic parish.

Coat of arms

The Stubenberger Crest picks up issues of the crest of the Stubenberger, of noble family, which took its name from the castle in the municipality. The toppled anchor similar to the silver WolfSense; the silver - black background, it was replaced by the Styrian colors.

Economy

Room mountain is a tourist resort, which has mainly during the summer season than 150,000 overnight stays while in addition a popular day trip destination with the Stubenbergsee and Herberstein. Industry is scarce, dominated the trade very locally. 14% of the workforce is employed in agriculture, 34% in industry and 52 % in services.
