Description and History

The district was named ( Civil Code of Argentina ) to Dalmacio Velez Sarsfield, the author of the " Código Civil de la República Argentina". It is a typical Buenos Aires residential area with low buildings, which quickly grew due to the increase in population in the early 20th century. Today Velez Sarsfield is a mainly residential part of the middle class with little commercial space. The largest square of the neighborhood is the Plaza Ramón L. Falcón Coronel 7,300 m².

There are three sports clubs in the district: Club Atlético Capital, the Club Social y Deportivo Mitre and Club Social y Deportivo Villa Luro. The first division club CA Velez Sarsfield is the Estadio José Amalfitani in the nearby district of Liniers at home and not, as one might suspect, in Velez Sarsfield.

By Velez Sarsfield flows of Maldonado. At the beginning of the 20th century it was moved into an underground channel, also runs the main street of the neighborhood, the Avenida Juan B. Justo. The Maldonado was once the boundary of the City of Buenos Aires, before the localities of Flores and Belgrano developed, which are also parts of Buenos Aires today.
