Waldersbach

Waldersbach is a commune with 149 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to Arrondissement of Molsheim, on the Canton Schirmeck and community association Haute- ruptures.

History

Originally the place was a fief of the Rathsamhausens. But he was then sold to the Count Palatine of Veldenz, it reformed in 1589.

From April 1, 1974 Waldersbach formed with the communities Belmont and Belle Fosse joint management Le Ban-de- la- Roche ( Bedrock ).

Structures

The most important buildings of Waldersbach are the Protestant parish church with a wooden bell tower and the old vicarage. The old rectory is a beautifully furnished museum is about Johann Friedrich Oberlin (1740-1826), the " inventor of the kindergarten ".

Personalities

Johann Friedrich Oberlin, pastor in Bedrock ( Ban de la Roche), born on August 31, 1740 in Strasbourg, died on 1 June 1826 in Waldersbach. He took care of the development of agriculture and the formation of communities in Bedrock. On his initiative arose infant schools as a kind of kindergarten with educational goals. Oberlin is considered the inventor of the kindergarten.

Georg Büchner's Lenz story, in which he also used records of Oberlin, set in a fictional town forest stream - is meant Waldersbach.
