Balbronn

Balbronn ( German Ballbronn, alsatian Bàlvere ) is a municipality with 633 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the arrondissement of Molsheim and Canton Wasselonne in the department of Bas -Rhin in Alsace region of France. The municipality is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes des Coteaux de la Mossig.

Geography

The wine is on the edge of the Natural Park of the Northern Vosges about 25 km west of Strasbourg.

History

Originally imperial possession was the village later on to the Lords of Lichtenberg. The prosperous community was fixed at an early stage by two castles. After the introduction of the Reformation in 1545 by the Lords of Lichtenberg Romanesque village church was a reformed church, but was available for a Louis XIV since 1687 also the Catholics available. The Simultaneum was completed with the construction of a Catholic church in 1905.

Attractions

  • The Protestant village church built on the site of an ancient Celtic sanctuary; the nave dates from the 11th, the church tower from the 12th century.
