Niederhaslach

Niederhaslach is a commune with 1397 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Vosges in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. The community is not involved in any Communauté de communes. Niederhaslach is one of the border towns of Alemannic dialect area and is in close proximity to Oberhaslach. By Niederhaslach the hazel, which flows through ruptures in Strasbourg in the Ill River flows.

Holy Florentinus ( Florentius of Strasbourg) with crosier and miter on a blue background. Also named after the collegiate Niederhaslach called Église Saint- Florent, as well as patron of the pilgrimage chapel of St. Florent in neighboring Oberhaslach.

Sight

Collegiate Church Niederhaslach called Église Saint- Florent. The three-nave church is one, next to the Strasbourg Cathedral, one of the most representative Gothic constructions of Alsace. Especially hervorzuhebend are the 14 amazing medieval stained glass windows, but also newer elements, including the monumental tower tower from the 19th century are the symbol of majestic church.

Personalities

  • Florentius of Strasbourg, founded in the 6th or 7th century, the Benedictine monastery in Niederhaslach.
  • Gerald Steinbach († 1330 in Niederhaslach, accident ). He was one of three sons of Steinmetz Erwin von Steinbach ( 1244-1318 ). Father Erwin was significant architect of Strasbourg Cathedral. Its architecture was praised in 1773 by Goethe. Gerhald son was the architect of collegiate Niederhaslach. His accidental death initially led to the construction freeze. It was not until 1335 the building was completed. The grave slab of Gerald Steinbach is still in the interior of the Collegiate Church Niederhaslach.
  • John Burckard (* 1450 Niederhaslach, † 15 Mai1506 Rome) was prothonotary of the Holy See and 1484-1503 Master of Ceremonies at the Roman Curia
