Dachstein (Bas-Rhin)

The French community Dachstein is located in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region between Ergersheim and Molsheim. It has 1650 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) and is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Région de Molsheim - Mutzig. An important source of income is agriculture with agriculture. Dachstein has been a former fortified episcopal city.

Attractions

Dachstein is located off the main road in Alsace and is therefore touristy little developed. The town still comes up with interesting buildings on such

  • St. Martin's Church ( Église Saint- Martin), who still has Gothic elements with nave and Baroque altar
  • The Renaissance castle ( in the 19th century expanded in Neo-Renaissance style ) of the De Turckheim family, Château de Turckheim or Vieux Château. It was formerly a summer residence of some bishops of Strasbourg and
  • The old washhouse and
  • The Hervé Bourcart Castle or " La Magnanerie ". Lies rather in the village center and in 1750 built as a private mansion in the royal school of sericulture was housed. Since 1838 it is owned by Hervé family. In the 1990s, the castle and the idyllic surroundings served as a backdrop for filming of the movie saga " The Alsatians or two Mathilde ". Magnan is an Occitan word meaning mulberry. The Magnanerie is the registered office of sericulture.
  • In the streets of Dachstein more traditional half-timbered houses, some have a gallery of carved wood.
