Altorf

Altdorf ( Altdorf German ) is a municipality with 1268 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the canton of Molsheim in the Bas -Rhin in Alsace region of France. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Région de Molsheim - Mutzig.

The Abbey Church of St Cyriac, originally from the late 10th century, was rebuilt in the late 12th century and had to be partially rebuilt after a fire in the 17th century. The nave is Romanesque, the choir and transept were rebuilt in the Baroque by Peter Thumb. In the church there is a wooden bust of the Saint Cyriak from the second half of the 12th century. The church also houses a listed organ by Andreas Silbermann from the year 1730. In the monastery garden there is a Renaissance fountain of red granite.
