Plaine, Bas-Rhin

Plaine is a municipality with 971 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in Alsace region of France. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Haute- ruptures.

Geography

The community is located south of the massif to the Donon, above the Bruche Valley. The nearby mountains are the Cote de Plaine 807 meters above the sea and the Chat Pendue (900 m).

History

A first mention of the settlement dates back to a confirmation of the estates of the Abbey of Senones from the year 1123.

Around the turn of the century from the 18th to the 19th century Plaine was the capital of the Canton de la Plaine.

In 1914, destroyed the village church built in the 18th century in connection with the First World War. In 1920 the Church of Saint- Arnould was built.

Economy and infrastructure

Plaine has the character of a scattered settlement. There is also a swimming pool, country houses, apartments and holiday camp " juniper ". Since not everything surrounding area is forested, it can be partly used for agriculture.
