Wolxheim

Wolxheim (Alsatian: Wolixe ) is a municipality with 877 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in Alsace region of France. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Région de Molsheim - Mutzig.

The Riesling from Wolxheim was the favorite wine of Napoleon. The Altenberg de Wolxheim is a vineyard in Alsace. History

In the year 742 the town appeared under the name " Folcolfersheim " on. Later this became " Volkordesheim ", " Wolfgang Wolixe " and " Wolfgangersheim ". The present name has existed since in 1453.
