Wuxi Classic

The Wuxi Classic (formerly Jiangsu Classic) is a professional snooker tournament.

History

From the introduction of the tournament as Jiangsu Classic in 2008, it was up to the year 2011, at an invitational tournament in which there were no points for the world ranking. Nevertheless, it was, in each case beginning of the season, part of Snooker Main Tour.

From 2008 to 2011 twelve players participated in the tournament, playing off the four semi-finalists in two groups of six. Then in 2010 it was renamed the Wuxi Classic, named after the venue, the Wuxi City Sports Park Stadium in Wuxi, China. At the same time the group mode has been abolished and replaced with the knockout system.

Since the 2012/13 season, it is one of five full ranking tournaments in China.

2009 succeeded Mark Selby during the group stage of the 69th maximum break of snooker history.

Stuart Bingham in 2012 played in the finals already the 89th official maximum break.

2013 succeeded Robertson in qualifying the 98th maximum break of snooker history.
