Augignac
Augignac, Occitan Auginhac, is a commune with 839 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Dordogne in the Aquitaine region. It belongs to the district Nontron and Canton Nontron. It also forms part of the Périgord -Limousin Regional Natural Park.
Geography
Augignac is located in the Périgord Vert and is about ten kilometers from the south-southwest situated Nontron and scarce five kilometers away from the lying to the north Piégut -Pluviers.
Augignac is surrounded by the following municipalities:
- Piégut -Pluviers in the North
- Abjat -sur- Bandiat in the north- east and east
- Savignac -de- Nontron in the southeast
- Nontron in the south
- Le Bourdeix in the southwest
- Saint- Estèphe in the West
The municipal area of Augignac include the following hamlets, farms, mills and castles: Boudignac, Châteaurenaud, Chez Pey, Clos Neuf, La Beaufarie, La Cornadelle, La Cour, La Ferrière, La Franche, La Garde, La Petite Tavernerie, La Tavernerie, Lafarge, Lapeyre, Laubanie, Le Clos des Landes, Le Ménichou, Le Moulin de Lapeyre, Le Moulin de Nebout, Le Moulin de Tignac, Le Point du Jour, Le Tupet, Les Brégères, Les Chadauds, Les Landes, Les Petits Champs, Leygurat, Maine du Bost, Maison- Neuve, Nauvialle, Pouzol, Puy de Pin, Puybégout, Rochefoulée, Roubardières and Tignac.
The south-east boundary of the township to Abjat -sur- Bandiat is made from draining to the southwest Bandiat. The Doue is in the northwest of the border to Piégut -Pluviers and Saint- Estèphe. It also flows from the southwest direction. Hence The municipality is located on a ridge between these two rivers; this ridge is gradually tions south-southwest lower.
The topographically lowest point of the municipality is located at 192 meters above sea level at the Bandiat in the south. The highest point 306 meters above sea level is located near Laubanie in the north.
Transport links
Through the center of the Augignac D 675 runs from Rochechouart by Nontron ( in north-south direction). The center also crosses an east- west running local road from Abjat -sur- Bandiat to Saint -Estèphe.

The municipality is crossed by the GR 4.
Geology
Augignac lies entirely on the Piégut -Pluviers - granodiorite ( Normalfazies ). In Puybégout the coarse-grained Porphyrfazies is pending. The center is used by some pink microgranite transitions traversed ( in NNW- NNE and direction) and several disorders ( in NNW- and N- direction).
History
The oldest structure in Augignac is built from granodiorite Romanesque church.

Source: INSEE population of Augignac have been declining until 1975. Since then they have stabilized under light fluctuations.
