Only in the western section ( west of the ridge Ruisseau des Forges and the Doue ) transgredieren flat-lying Liassedimente ( arkoses and shales of the Hettangiums Toarciums ) over the granodiorite. The ridge north of Combas ( between Le Prieuré and La Chapoulie ) is also taken from the Lias. The mudstones of the Toarciums were formerly mined at Les Grenouille as a raw material for the now disused brickyard. To the west of the hamlet Bouchardières crosses a NNW- SSE- striking fault; which lie to the west Liassedimente have been lowered here refer to the granodiorite. The granodiorite shows mineralization of barite in Combas and Pinard and galena at Pinard.

History

The oldest structures in Le Bourdeix are built from Granodioritquadern Donjon from the 11th century and the Romanesque church of the 12th century, also in granodiorite. In the former forge Les Forges through which the boundary runs to the neighboring Étouars, iron ore was processed from the Nontronnais melted in blast furnaces (cast iron) and guns for the French Navy in Rochefort between the 15th and 18th centuries. The forge was operated by water power, for this purpose the Ruisseau des Forges has therefore been dammed to form a pond.
