Rhêmes-Saint-Georges

Rhêmes -Saint -Georges is a town in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley with 199 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012). The municipality lies at an average altitude of 1218 m above sea level. Sea level and has a size of 36 km ². The highest point on the municipal area is Punta Bianca (French Pointe Blanche ) with 3427 m. The inhabitants are called Rhêmeins or Saintgeorgeais.

Rhêmes -Saint -Georges consists of the districts Chahoz, Coveyrand, Créton, Frassiney, La Fabrique, Les Cris, Les Cloux, La Barmaz, Mélignon, Mougnoz, Proussaz, Sarral, Vieux and Voix. The neighboring communities are called Arvier, Introd, Rhêmes -Notre -Dame, Valgrisenche and Valsavarenche.

The scattering community Rhêmes -Saint- Georges is located along the road that leads through the Rhêmes Valley, a southern ( right ) side valley of the Valle d'Aosta. The community lies on the edge of the Gran Paradiso National Park whose western border is the valley.

From 1939 to 1946, the village was the Italianate name Val di Rema.
