10th Independent Spirit Awards
The tenth ceremony of the Independent Spirit Awards took place on 25 March 1995.
Summary
Like last year, a film directed by Ang Lee was nominated for six awards and won no: Eat Drink Man Woman ( Yin shi nan nu). Also empty from Alan Rudolph went for Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle ( Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle ), this film was nominated five times. The big winner was Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, with four awards, including two (Director and writer) for Tarantino himself. The directing prize he won against strong competition: Roman Polanski for The Death and the Maiden ( Death and the Maiden) (the only nomination for the film ), Alan Rudolph, John Dahl and Woody Allen, whose black comedy Bullets Over Broadway nominated for four awards and two had won. For the newcomers struck David O. Russell Spanking the Monkey Kevin Smith's Clerks .. The award for best foreign film secured the ever nominated Krzysztof Kieślowski for his last film, Three Colors: Red ( Trois couleurs: Rouge).
