7th Independent Spirit Awards
The seventh presentation of the Independent Spirit Awards took place in 1992.
Summary
Best Film was Martha Coolidge's Rambling Rose ( Rambling Rose), who still got two more prizes. Strongest competition was Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho, which was nominated for six awards and won three. Martha Coolidge won the Best Director Award to Gus Van Sant and the two newcomers Richard Linklater and Todd Haynes, whose films were nominated Marauders ( Slacker ) and Poison for the best debut film, but did not win. Jane Campion won the second consecutive year the award for best foreign film, she struck again Mike Leigh, but also with, Krzysztof Kieslowski The Double Life of Veronique ( La double vie de Véronique ).
