1953–54 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season
The East German Ice Hockey Cup 1953/54, was discharged into the league with six teams. The SG Dynamo White Water defended the title from the previous year with only one defeat. By decision of the German Sport Committee ( section of ice and roller hockey ) the descent scheme was abolished in favor of a league - topping.

Offs for promotion to the Football League in 1954/55
For the promotion round to the league's 15 district champion in the GDR were eligible, but championships were not held in all districts and participants were reported.
Other climbers were the BSG Traktor Oberwiesenthal and the BSG Motor Rostock.
