1968–69 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season
The East German Ice Hockey Championship in 1968/69 was played in the mode of a preliminary and subsequent final round back in the big leagues. As already practiced in the 1961/62 season, had to be doing all teams qualify for the finals. At the end triumphed after three years of record champions SG Dynamo white water, which could dissociate the defending champions from the SC Dynamo Berlin by two points. With the SC Empor Rostock for the first time threatened to break into a team for years continued dominance of the Dynamo team. In the end, the Baltic city dwellers had to settle for bronze with only one point behind Berlin.
The group league this time was dominated by the BSG Turbine Boxberg. For the first time officially supported by the same power plant as the carrier operation, the Lusatian -formed a powerful team, which at the end - in the absence of ASG forward from Crimmitschau - was able to crown without major opposition group to the league champions. In the Relegation against the weakest Oberliga SC Karl- Marx-Stadt, however, could Boxberg not change the fact that the amateurs had the sporting connection to the teams of excellence in practically already lost his years.
