1989–90 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season

The East German Ice Hockey Championship 1989/90 saw an innovation in the big leagues. Due to the rapid championship decision in the preseason - the SG Dynamo white water made in the first six games already winning the title perfectly - it was decided by the Association, that instead of the current will in future be won two of three series, each with five games in the " Best of Five " principle need. At the new master white water, nothing changed, but could the Lusatian triumph this time until the fourth passage over arch-rivals from SC Dynamo Berlin. With the win, White Water was also the last East German champion. In the subsequent German reunification the GDR Hockey learned its integration into the overall German sports landscape, the two previous Oberliga were - taken over for the next season in the Premier League - as PEV white water and EHC Dynamo Berlin.

The last host the GDR best determination was befitting won by record winner Fritz Lesch SG Dynamo Berlin. With the setting of gaming operations from next season the previous participants began to part a fresh start on a pan- German amateur level.
