1954–55 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season
The East German Ice Hockey Championship in 1954/55 was marked by the sports club foundations whose hockey sections the majority of acquisitions to date most powerful BSG team. From the determined in the pre-season climbers BSG Chemie Granschütz allowed their place in the league according to the association decision not perceive, but had to concentrate as reigning East German champion in roller hockey to the latter sport.

The crew of BSG Motor Zwickau was withdrawn after four games and set independently of the sporting result to the last place. All scheduled games in Rostock had been eliminated, since the local ice rink was not ready in time.
Offs for promotion to League 1955/56
For the league promotion round the 15 district champion in the GDR were eligible, but championships were not held in all districts or had reported numerous teams too late.
As a second team sat the representative of the district of Dresden, SG Geising through. These results were, however, soon fell after a fundamental restructuring was carried out in the league system next season. All interested Technical Supervisor or other representatives then got a place in a newly created third division ( League 2 ) assigned. Besides the two mentioned teams, this related to the following teams:
