1952–53 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season

The GDR Hockey Champion 1952/53, was first identified in the big leagues. According to a decision of the Bureau of the Section Hockey league was reduced to a number of participants from five teams to achieve so in the battle of substantially equivalent teams a further increase in performance.

Originally both season winner should ascend to the Oberliga. The winner of the second round of BSG Lok Zittau, BSG bismuth Frankenhausen 1b and BSG structure Southwest Leipzig secured a league place for next season.
