1960â€“61 DDR Oberliga (ice hockey) season

The East German Ice Hockey Cup 1960/61, was held between October 1960 and January 1961. Master was the SG Dynamo White Water, novice SC Motor Karl- Marx-Stadt had to descend again.

Mode

As in the previous season participated in the ice hockey league of eight teams in the identification of the DDR master. In the preliminary round with two squadrons of four teams each having four participants were determined for the championship round (final group A) and the relegation round (final Group B ). For both groups, four games were provided for each six -point games in one place. In the relegation round only relegated was determined. After the adjustment of the lower divisions, the 1st and 2nd league started now also with eight participants.

Changes

Before the season, there were compared to the last game -time changes in the field of participants. Thus, the long-standing Oberliga TSC Oberschoeneweide had joined the previous local rivals and Championship rivals SC Unit Berlin. The ASK Vorwärts Berlin was, however, moved to Crimmitschau and ran from then on as " ASK forward Crimmitschau ". The last year playing under that name league team have been demoted in return in the 2nd league and renamed " ASG " forward Crimmitschau.

The winner of Season 1, SC Turbine Erfurt, secured without a struggle to be awarded league starting place, since the other season winners SG Dynamo White Water II was not entitled to advancement as a second representative.

Descent games for 2nd League

As an underdog the relegation round seemed for the BSG bismuth Wilkau- Haßlau first the way to the third division as sealed. However, when the II League Season 1 - quasi no longer existed after the subsequent resolution of the ASK forward Erfurt and SC Dynamo Berlin - SC Turbine Erfurt as a fourth member yet started coming season in the league, while from there the losers in the Season 2 was incorporated - could the bismuth team remaining in the league.

The HSG Chemistry Hall TH thus secured for next season a starting place in the first league, but the team was still dissolved in the summer break. The losing season winner SG Dynamo Klingenthal could take the place of the riser thus still.

Descent games for District League

The BSG steel Ilsenburg should stay as an underdog in the district league, but benefited from the challenges the first wave of League Team resolutions. As has become available starting places were filled with former team of the 2nd league, the ESR steel retained their place in the third division.

There were several teams that have released to play next season in the second league. This was due to the high number of withdrawals from the league, who should use during the summer break.
