1964–65 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season
The East German Ice Hockey Cup 1964/65 showed as clearly as never before, the two-class society, which - in other team sports - began to emerge due to the planned economic structures in the GDR. So all subsidized sport club teams were united in the top division by the league - topping first. The division club sports teams, however, preferred to cost reasons, to start in the regional league seasons of the group, what they - when athletic qualified - and more often waived their right to start in the higher grades. This year, only three teams were thus zusammenzubekommen for the league, so that was resolved to date second league after the season.
